The Art and Design Academy " Leonetto Cappiello " was born in Florence in 1956 in order to spread among the new generations - through cultural , technical and application-oriented initiatives, publications, meetings and events - the love for art and science , studied for social-economic development. Since the beginning, the Academy stands out in providing qualified professionals in the sectors of graphics, interior design, advertising and publishing illustration for institutions, companies, offices, agencies, and job teams.

This year the Academy turns 50 years. This is an important date for a professional school that is very well known in Italy and - above all - famous abroad; it is entitled to Leonetto Cappiello, an advertiser of Leghorn, forerunner of modern communication, that lived both in Italy and France, between the XIX and the XX century.
Half century after, our Academy proudly represents a valid alternative to the university and it continues to be a precious reservoir for those entering the world of work.
In its long years of activity, in fact, the Academy has always looked for - and then also formed and increased in value - the proper elements fitted for each sector, helping those students that take part in the courses to discover their real potentials and of consequence to validate those talents that each one has . The Academy has promoted, every year, since its foundation, formative courses that have now become unique and irreplaceable and to which increasingly apply all those employers that look for really qualified people, together with those young students who wish to present themselves seriously to the work market.

The Academy does not have correspondence-courses, as the attendance to the lessons is the only guarantee to succeed in being professionally prepared.
The lessons are developed in accordance with the more modern didactic systems that derive from the experiences of the Academy, as well as from analogous European institutes. Starting with the first meeting, between students and teachers a positive relationship is established, creating the best climate to mature - gradually but intensively - in the student the technical and executive experience, together with the capability for abstract reasoning and complete comprehension of the subjects of study.

 
Efficient and modern equipments, teaching aids, textbooks and course-packets prepared by the same teachers - but above all the proper spirit of absolute comprehension and collaboration between teachers and students - characterize and focus the educational and formative action, until the student matures his specific experience (nearly without realizing it), in the atmosphere of creative fervour and of modern culture that are the main characteristic of this almost unique Academy in Italy.
Every single student is followed in his learning, step by step, in order to reduce the cases of those people that, once graduated, don't succeed in affirming themselves with satisfaction in their various professional categories.
Since the very first year of its foundation, the Academy courses received the recognition of the Minister of the Public Instruction through the Provincial Consortium for the Technical Instruction of Florence.
Today the Academy is a private institution that operates directly in contact with the referenced professional categories.
Numerous Associations and Professional Orders, in fact, constantly follow and support the activity of the Academy recognizing its important function as a breeding-ground for the future operators of the sector. The seriousness of the studies, the high level of given specialization, together with the characteristic of the individualized teaching, with a selected low number of students for every academic year, have permitted to contribute to the world of work, in 50 years of activity, nearly five thousand graduates of the various disciplines . We can today affirm that the greatest part of them now hold responsible positions in the most varied sectors, firms, and in the free professions.
The Academy welcomes today students from all over the world, sometimes already with good basis, and even if the greatest part of them is are italian, the reputation of the studies has brought, from the beginning, students of every European country and of extra-european states.
Finally the continuous updating of the didactic programs, in tune with the evolution of the operative instruments in the various professions, has brought the recent integration of subjects and teaching techniques, with the adoption of the most modern computer systems for the creation and process of the images with computers.
